Does your child's or teenager's behaviour or emotional well-being give you cause for concern?
Do you feel it is difficult to reach them or help them manage their feelings?
Do they not want to talk about ‘it’, but you feel they need emotional support?
If this is the case, you might want to consider art therapy, a form of psychotherapy that does not necessarily use words: it uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication.
Art therapy is suitable for all ages, including adults, but is considered the ‘natural choice’ for children since difficult feelings can be expressed through the art work rather than through words.
I am a qualified art psychotherapist and with my help the images (or other art expressions) can be thought about together in a safe and confidential environment. This can relieve difficult or painful feelings, since the artwork, by being placed between your child and their emotions, allows your child the space to think and feel.
Art therapy is not a recreational activity or an art lesson. You don't have to have any art experience to be attending art therapy.
I am based in Guildford, Surrey, within easy reach of the A3.
If you would like to make an appointment or discuss whether you and/or your child would benefit from art therapy, please don’t hesitate to contact me by email.
Alternatively I can be reached on my direct and confidential number 07828 579042.
